Michael Woods is the Principal of our law firm. He worked for South Australia Police for 15 years as a prosecutor and detective in the CIB. He decided to move to criminal law defence in 1995 with a well known defence solicitor and opened his own practice in 2000 specialising in Criminal and Traffic law.

He has a First Class Honours Degree in Law and many academic prizes to his name, including Dux of the law school. This combination of practical and academic experience provides the strongest possible foundation for our law firm.

As Principal, Michael demands extremely high standards. This has helped us to successfully conduct many high profile cases over many years, including murder, rape, robbery, drug disputes, and fraud matters. While other firms may offer more varied services, we can assure you that our expertise in criminal and traffic law is second to none.

Michael Woods is passionate about the firm and commitment to excellence. He has trained many solicitors who have now opened their own practice. He opened the firm in 2000 after working for a leading defence criminal lawyer.

Hugh WoodsSolicitor

Hugh joined our team in 2015 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2018. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice. He has developed his own following and is committed to your matter.

Ben ChehadeSolicitor

Ben Chehade graduated with an Honours Degree in Law from the University of Adelaide in 2012. After owning a successful business, he returned the law, focusing on criminal and traffic law. He is hardworking and strives for excellence.

Vivian NgoSolicitor

Vivian joined Woods & Co to practise exclusively in Criminal Law after having worked in general practice across a broad range of areas including criminal and civil law. She has experience instructing preeminent counsel across all jurisdictions. Vivian is bilingual and speaks Vietnamese.

Stefania SwartSolicitor

Stefania graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Major in Criminology). She has worked in Criminal Defence Law since 2020 as a Legal Secretary and Law Clerk. Stefania was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia as a Barrister and Solicitor in May 2023.
